While you might think the title of this post would be “Eat the Frog Legs,” since this site is devoted to Paris and France, it’s not.

I work on “eating” a frog every day. If you’re getting grossed out by this idea, stick with me.

While I will talk about food on this site, eating frogs in the literal sense is highly unlikely.

The Eating The Frog productivity method was devised by productivity consultant Brian Tracey. His system is simple–it contains three steps for daily productivity. I like simple. Over complicated processes or productivity systems with too many steps, for me, creates barriers to accomplishing things. I lose focus of what’s really important–getting the work done. I’m so mindful of checking boxes that I end up wasting more time trying to make sure I’m complying with the system. The process becomes more important than the work. So here it is – three steps to a more productive day.

1.     Identify your frog. This is also known as an item on your to-do list that you find to be the most difficult to accomplish. What’s your most unpleasant or hardest task for each day?

2.     Eat the frog. Do this task first. Before any other distractions or any other part of your day gets in your way. It sounds simple, right?

3.     Repeat it the next day. Do it again, and again. Build that habit-forming skill and before you know it you’ll be eating frogs, too!

So, I recently had been off the frog system, until I happened to pass a stunning garden frog at a local barn sale. I was rolling by and I stopped dead in my tracks. I knew he was a sign.

I scooped him up and purchased him. Now I have a physical, daily reminder to “eat my frog”–stop procrastinating and get the most difficult or unpleasant task off my to-do list.

The added bonus is he looks absolutely adorable in my garden.
